Seminar on violence and agapeic love...

On July 19th and 20th 2010 the students at St John's Regional Seminary, Kondadaba had a resourceful seminar on the theme of Violence and Agapeic Ontology animated by Fr George Panthanmackel MSFS. Citing philosophical resources and insights, Fr George led the students to reflect deeper on the theme of love and violence, especially from a Christian point of view.

During the seminar Fr George helped the listeners cleverly see the connection between philosophical terms, especially those dreaded metaphysical terms like being, existence, substance, ontology, and the concrete living of a Christian life. The theme of religion and metaphysics, especially agapeic and philosophical ontology, was the central focus. The Seminar, organised as part of the academic programme of the Seminary, was coordinated and facilitated by the college Principal, Fr Wilson Jose in collaboration with the Vidya Jyoti group.

Fr George Panthanmackel is currently the President of the Association of Christian Philosophers of India (ACPI), a vibrant community that has to its credit all Christian Philosophers and thinkers of India share and enrich one another. Fr George is a full time professor at Suvidya Institute of Philosophy, Bangalore. He has to his credit several books and articles in leading Philosophical journal in India and abroad too. His field of specialisation in Philosophy is metaphysics.

Inauguration of the Marian tournaments

On the evening of July 16, 2010 we had the inauguration of the Marian tournaments. The inaugural session was organised by the Youth Alive members under the leadership of Br B. Sateesh and K. Lourdu. Here are some snaps of the same event which was held at 3.45 pm in front of the dining hall, in the lawn. Fr Sagili Devadas, the Spiritual Director was the chief guest on the occasion. Here he is seen delivering the message for the day: Keep up the zeal, never let the initial enthusiasm slacken along the way!
Ginger, the house dog, too was actively present during the whole inauguration programme. Here it is seen busy chasing its ball on the stage.
That's Fr Wilson, the Principal, handing over the lit torch to the first runner.

That's the oath-taking ceremony (in the background one can see the lovely Chapel we have for the Community)

Extending a helping hand for Education

The whole campus of St John's Regional Seminary, Kondadaba was abuzz with nearly 500 school children, most of whom were accompanied by their parents, from nearly 8 neighbouring villages on July 4, 2010 and what brought them together was their zeal for pursuing their studies. Continuing the tradition of extending support for the educational process of deserving children, the community of St John's, Kondadaba chose this day to distribute notebooks to the children, the first of the many forms of support to those who otherwise will not enter the portico of any school.
